Marnus Labuschagne Left Out from Australian ODI Team Against Team India

Marnus Labuschagne has been dropped from Australia's three-match ODI series against India, as high-performing Queensland colleague Matt Renshaw earning a unexpected selection.

Performance Issues Lead to Exclusion

Labuschagne has been omitted from the one-day international squad after being dismissed for one in both of his innings during the recent series against South Africa in August. The right-hander has a best innings of 47 in his last 10 ODI innings.

The 31-year-old has featured in 68 one-day internationals and accumulated 1,871 runs at an batting average of 34.64 runs per dismissal, but will now work towards a Test team comeback in time for the Ashes beginning in Perth on November 21.

Renshaw's Return and Team Changes

There have been indications of a improvement in form with a score of 160 for Queensland in the Sheffield Shield this week, while Renshaw scored a hundred for the Bulls in the same game against Tasmania.

Renshaw could to make his white-ball international debut in the upcoming series against India after his last inclusion in an ODI squad in 2022.

Team Announcement Strategy and Fixtures

Australia have announced a squad for only the first two T20s against India with the upcoming Ashes series, although Glenn Maxwell will be absent for the five-match series due to a wrist injury suffered in New Zealand.

Mitch Marsh will lead both the ODI and T20 teams after scoring a hundred in the last match against New Zealand to clinch a series clean sweep last week.

“Selectors have announced a squad for the ODI series and initial two matches of the T20 series as there will be some management through the back end of the series as individuals prepare for the summer through Sheffield Shield cricket,” selection chief George Bailey said.
“The majority of the T20 squad will stay as a group as it’s an important period in the build towards the World Cup next year, however we are aiming to find equilibrium to ensure we simultaneously get ready certain individuals for the Test matches ahead.”

Australia’s three-game ODI series against India commences on October 19 in Perth, before the rivals play five T20 internationals from October 29.
